Mit der Fusion des niederländischen Güterverkehrs mit der deutschen Railion Gruppe erhielt die DB AG Zugang zu einem Teil der Elektrolokomotiven der Serie 1600 der NS. 2012 wurden zehn Maschinen im Zuge der Instandhaltung verkehrsrot lackiert. Auf Initiative einiger Lokführer wurden die letzten drei Lokomotiven zum Einsatzende bei DB Cargo NL im Jahr 2020 mit Abschiedstexten beklebt.
