Die Baureihe 55.25–56 (ehem. preuß. G 8.1), von der fast 5.000 Stück gebaut wurden, war mit einer Leistung von 1.260 PS und einer Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 55 km/h vor allem im Güterzug- und schweren Rangierdienst eingesetzt.
